In his 15-year career in the NBA, Brook Lopez has been one of the league’s premier shot blockers. His 1,575 career blocked shots rank 34th all-time in the NBA. This season, however, Lopez may be having his best season as a rim-protector.
Lopez on pace for 200+ blocks this season
Lopez currently leads the league with 45 blocks. He has a block in 16 of the 17 games he’s played and has two or more blocks in 12 of his 17 games, most in the association. To give you an example of how important his defense is to the Bucks’ success, consider that he is averaging 3.0 blocks in Bucks’ wins and 1.8 in Bucks’ losses this season.
The 45 blocked shots in 17 games for Lopez projects out to 217 for the 2022-23 season. That would be a career high for Lopez and would give him the third-most blocked shots in a season by a Bucks’ player. His best season was in 2018-19 with the Bucks when he had 179 blocks. Only three Bucks players have blocked 200 or more shots in a season:
