The end of the Bucks-Kings matchup saw some excitement. With Giannis Antetokounmpo dribbling the clock out, Kings’ big man Trey Lyles took his frustration out on Giannis and pushed him in the back. Brook Lopez was having none of it and jumped in to defend the star player. Pushing and shoving ensued for a minute or two and then things calmed down. The NBA has handed down punishments for Lopez and Lyles.
The NBA suspended Sacramento Kings forward Trey Lyles for one game for his role in altercation with Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez on Monday night. Lopez was fined $25,000.

Brook Lopez & Trey Lyles Punishments
Clearly, the NBA thinks that Lyles was the instigator of the altercation. Lyles has been suspended one game for his role in the fight. The push on Giannis was uncalled for even if Lyles believes Giannis walked right in front of him. Lopez received a softer sentence. He was given a fine of $25,000 for his role. No other punishments were handed out.

Let’s Move On
The move was uncalled for. However, Giannis did not fall down or was ever at any risk of injury. Lyles was frustrated at how the game went and lost control of his emotions. Lopez was defending his teammate. No punches were thrown. It was just a bunch of shoving and then flapping of gums in postgame press conferences. The only way these teams will meet again is if they meet in the finals which I will admit is a decent possibility with the way the Western Conference looks. This is a situation that both teams should just move on from.
The Bucks are gelling at the right time. They just wrapped up a road trip with a couple of huge road wins against good playoff teams. They now head back home where the schedule gets a little easier. The team has clinched a playoff spot and now it is time to clinch the no. 1 seed so the playoffs go through Milwaukee.
