On Friday, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst met with the media for his end-of-season press conference. Many roster questions were asked and Gutekunst gave some interesting answers. One player that people had questions about was rookie Quay Walker. While he flashes of brilliance, it was overshadowed by his two ejections during the season where he pushed training personnel. Gutekunst was asked about this during the press conference.
Brian Gutekunst says Quay Walker needs to learn how to handle reactions better on the field, but doesn't think the rookie LB has an issue moving forward: "We love Quay. We love everything he's bringing to our squad right now." Thinks Walker has "bright future" with #Packers.

Brian Gutekunst On Quay Walker
Gutekunst doesn’t think that Walker will have any issues long-term. He acknowledged that he does need to handle his reactions better on the field but doesn’t think that it will be an issue. “We love Quay,” Gutekunst said. “We love everything he’s bringing to our squad right now.” Walker did have an excellent rookie season. While he had his rookie mistakes, he played very well for a rookie.
Move On From The Mistake
The pushing of the training staff is not good. I do not want to minimize the seriousness of that situation. However, Walker came out with a heartfelt apology, one that didn’t seem like a copy-and-paste version from an agent or team personnel. He reached out to the Lions person he pushed and apologized as well. We all make mistakes and Walker recognizes he made some. If the behavior continues, that is unacceptable but as of this moment, it is a mistake that we all need to move on from.
It will be great to watch Walker develop. His speed and versatility are fun to watch on the field. He has the ability to be used in many different ways and I’m sure Matt LaFleur and Joe Barry will continue to use Quay Walker in any way they can.
