The National League Wild Card race is going to come down to the last few games of the regular season. Currently, the Brewers trail the Phillies by one game, which is really two games because the Phillies hold the tie-breaker. In order to make the post season, the Brew Crew must finish with more wins than the Phillies. Both teams have just four games remaining in the regular season.
The Brewers have sustained two heart breaking losses to the Marlins, both of which have hindered their play off chances. On Thursday night former teammate Avisail Garcia hit a go-ahead grand slam off of reliever Freddy Peralta. During Saturday’s game Devin Williams had the chance to record a second consecutive save, but the Marlins spoiled those plans.
At this point, every game is a must win for the Brewers. Here is how they are set up to finish the season.
Sunday, October 2 Starting Pitcher: Freddy Peralta
As mentioned above, Peralta pitched during the first game of the series against the Marlins. He threw 34 pitches in that relief outing and will now get the start in Sunday’s finale. His task will be to give the Brewers a few scoreless innings to begin the game.
Freddy Peralta starts for the Brewers tomorrow. They need a win.

Monday, October 3 Probable Starting Pitcher: Brandon Woodruff
Woodruff has been excellent as of late. He recently set a franchise record with four consecutive games with 10 or more strikeouts and will look to make it five against the Diamondbacks. The Brewers wanted him at full strength for his final regular season start, so hopefully he is able to come through with another big performance.
Brandon Woodruff threw a bullpen today so that precludes a short rest start tomorrow in the interest of having him available for an inning or two Wednesday if needed. They would rather have him full-strength for a big start Monday vs. Arizona.

Tuesday, October 4 Probable Starting Pitcher: Eric Lauer
Eric Lauer is the probable pitcher to start the second to last game of the regular season. He is coming off a five inning, nine strikeout game against the Marlins. If the Brewers are still in contention for the wild card spot, this game will determine how the Brewers approach game 162 on Wednesday.
Wednesday, October 5 Probable Starting Pitcher: Corbin Burnes
A few weeks ago, the Brewers elected to set up their rotation in order to have Corbin Burnes available on the final day of the season. Odds are that if the Crew is going to make the play offs game 162 will be a must win for them, so having your ace available is a great move. Hopefully the Brewers can find themselves in that position.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Wild Card Series will begin on Friday October 7 through Sunday October 9 if necessary. If the Brewers can enter the post season as the final wild card team, they would travel to St. Louis for the Wild Card Series.
