It was an exciting weekend of baseball in Milwaukee as the Brewers battled the Red Sox. Here is a complete series recap of the Brewers vs. Red Sox and what to expect next from the Brew Crew.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Boston Red Sox: Game No. 1
Final Score: 5-3 Red Sox
Freddy Peralta got the ball in game one against the Red Sox. The right-hander came off a relatively poor start and did not have a bounce back. Peralta allowed four runs in five and two-thirds of an inning.
All of the Brewers’ three runs this game came in the third and fourth inning. Christian Yelich kicked it off with an RBI single in the third. A home run from Rowdy Tellez and an RBI single from Brice Turang in the fourth inning boosted Milwaukee to a 3-2 lead. However, some additional earned runs from Peralta and Bryse Wilson resulted in a loss for the Brewers.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Boston Red Sox: Game No. 2
Final Score: 5-4 Brewers
Wade Miley was on the bump for game two of the series against the Red Sox. The Southpaw entered the game with a 1.50 ERA and had another solid start. When it was all said and done, Miley tossed five innings of two-run ball.
Milwaukee got their bats going early. Three of the Brewers’ first five runs came in the second and third inning. A Brian Anderson RBI double and a two-run blast from Tellez put the Brewers in front early. The Brewers stayed quiet for a bit before scoring two more in the fifth inning courtesy of Yelich, who had an RBI double and came around to score. Milwaukee did allow two more runs to the Red Sox but still held on and won the game.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Boston Red Sox: Game No. 3
Final Score: 12-5 Red Sox
Corbin Burnes got the start in game three. The former Cy Young Winner went five innings and allowed three runs, two of which were earned runs. It was a rather pedestrian start considering what is expected of Burnes.
The score of this game is pretty misleading. Milwaukee led most of the game and actually had a pretty solid offensive game. Anderson kicked it off with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Yelich chalked on two more runs with an RBI single and came around to score. Joey Wiemer scoring on a wild pitch in the seventh put the Brewers in front heading into the eighth inning.
The eighth inning is when everything collapsed for Milwaukee. Matt Bush came in and allowed four earned runs to the Red Sox and mustered just one out before being replaced with Javy Guerra, who allowed an additional five runs to cross.
Overall, this was an underwhelming series for the Brewers vs. the Red Sox. Uncharacteristically the pitching deserves most of the blame for the losses in this series. No starting pitcher made it through six innings, and the bullpen collapsed in the final game, costing Milwaukee the series. Let’s hope the Brewers make some changes in the bullpen and get back in the winning column.
