Game 1:
Corbin Burnes got the start in game one of the series for the Brewers. It was a rather pedestrian start for the right-hander. When it was all said and done he went five and one thirds innings, allowed two earned runs, and struck out three batters. Burnes exited the game in the sixth inning with a pectoral strain but is trending toward making his next start.
Offensively the Brewers had another strong day at the plate and finished the game with seven runs. They kicked it off early with a three-run second inning that featured an RBI double from Luke Voit (his first extra-base hit of the season), an RBI single from Owen Miller, and an RBI for Joey Wiemer off a ground out. After that, the Brewers stayed relatively quiet until the latter half of the game. In the sixth and seventh innings the Brewers put up another three runs at the dish. Brian Anderson had an RBI single in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning Brice Turang hit his second home run of the season and William Contreras followed with an RBI single.

There’s not much more you can ask from the Brewers for game one. The pitching only allowed three runs and the offense was scoring with ease.
Game 2:
Colin Rea made his second start of the season filling in for Brandon Woodruff. The veteran was a little less effective this time out but still kept the Brewers in the ball game. Rea allowed four runs in five innings and struck out just two batters.
Offensively the Brewers once again did not disappoint with six runs. Christian Yelich hit a leadoff home run in the first at-bat of the game as well as an RBI single in the third inning. Willy Adames had a big day as well hitting an RBI double in the third inning and a home run that tied the game in the sixth inning. The game ended up going to extra innings and the winning run came from Adames on an RBI ground out.

Overall another solid day from the Brewers. Colin Rea wasn’t excellent but still kept the team in the game which is all you can really ask from a spot starter. The offense did a nice job picking up his slack with big games from Yelich and Adames. It’s always nice to see a big game from Yelich.
Game 3:
Eric Lauer got the start for the Brewers in game three and pitched into the eighth inning. Lauer went seven and two-thirds of an inning allowing just two runs and punching out four batters
Offensively the Brewers were held in check for the majority of the game until the seventh inning where they scored five runs. Luke Voit kicked it off with an RBI single to put the Brewers on the board. Brice Turang followed with a go-ahead two-run double. A two-run single from Rowdy Tellez after that gave the Brewers some insurance which ended up being huge later in the game.

The Brewers’ bullpen had a rough time finishing the game. After picking up the final out of the eighth inning Peter Strzelecki was sent back out for the save in the ninth. The right-hander got just one strikeout and gave up his first run of the season. After a few more base runners reached Matt Bush came in to replace Strzelecki. Bush has been off to a shaky start this season so this rocked the hearts of many Brewer fans. After a couple of scary pitches, Bush managed to get the final two outs to win the game.
This wasn’t the Brewers’ best performance but they still came out with the win to pick up a sweep on the Mariners so there are no major complaints to be made. Let’s hope they can carry this momentum into their home stand.
