The Milwaukee Brewers have welcomed Craigtember. But not without some roster moves and injury reports.
When calendars flipped to September 1, rosters expanded from 26 to 28. For the Brewers, this meant the return of Daniel Vogelbach and reliever Justin Topa. In addition to the exciting news, there was some bad news that came with it.
Brewers moves, including a surprise:
C Manny Pina placed on 10-day IL with left oblique tightness.
1B Daniel Vogelbach reinstated from 60-day IL, C Luke Maile, RHP Justin Topa recalled.
Angel Perdomo shifted to 60-day IL to make from on the 40 for Vogelbach.

The surprise to many was that Manny Pina will go on to the 10-Day IL with left oblique tightness (Retroactive to 8/29). Angel Perdomo’s season comes to an end as he’s transferred to the 60-day to make room for Vogelbach on the 40-man. Perdomo initially went on the IL in the beginning of the month due to a lower back strain.
Additionally, with Pina down, Luke Maile receives a major league call up. Maile has played eight games with the crew where he slashed .211/.318/.263 with one driven in.
Moreover, Milwaukee is trucking along. We have entered September and the crew is well on it’s way to winning 100 games. Respectfully, it would be the first time in franchise history that they would achieve this accomplishment. Prior to this season, the closest they’ve come to 100 games was in 2019 (96-67), 2011 (96-66), 1992 (92-70), and 1982 (96-67). Staying healthy will be the key factor driving the Brewers’ success this month.
The Brewers will continue their four-game series against the San Francisco Giants at 8:45 p.m. CST on Wednesday night.
