Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Aaron Civale demanded a trade from the organization on June 12, 2025. His decision to make this request came after the team announced that they were shifting him to the bullpen, while in a contract year.
The Brewers quickly found a trade partner for the seven year veteran as they shipped him to the Chicago White Sox a day later in exchange for Andrew Vaughn. With a new first baseman/designated hitter in the organization, the team’s backup first baseman was quickly found in trade rumors.
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers in trade rumors following acquisition of Andrew Vaughn

On X, baseball/sports reporter Francys Romero indicated that the Brewers are reportedly open to listening to offers on Jake Bauers. Milwaukee optioned Vaughn to Triple-A after acquiring him, but Bauers has been in a back up role with the Brew Crew each of the last two seasons.
Despite the lack of at-bats, Bauers has solid numbers this year, posting a .762 OPS over 111 plate appearances. Bauers also has a knack for hitting in clutch moments, having previously hit a clutch home run for the team during the 2024 playoffs, hitting a go-ahead pinch hit double against the Phillies in June, and having a game tying SAC fly against the Padres this year. He also just missed a game tying home run against the Reds, but was robbed by center fielder TJ Friedl to end the game.

It’s unclear how much interest there is in Bauers. He re-signed with Milwaukee on a minor league deal this off-season, so teams previously had plenty of chances to acquire him, and not much has changed.
