A day after dropping a pair of split squad games, the Brewers exploded for 10 runs on Monday during a 10-4 victory over the Royals.  Of the 10 runs, seven RBI’s were collected by top prospects Garrett Mitchell, Hedbert Perez, Jefferson Quero, and Tyler Black.

The Brewers actually trailed 4-0 heading into the fifth inning of this game.  Hoby Milner and Peter Strzelecki gave up runs in the third and fourth innings.  Milner surrendered three hits, one walk, and was tagged with three earned runs.  Strzelecki allowed one hit, walked two, and gave up one earned run.

Garrett Mitchell got the Brewers on the board in the fifth inning with a RBI single.  Mitchell has gotten off to a hot start so far.  In six at-bats he has collected three hits with two of them being home runs.  He also has five RBI to go along with that.  It is worth noting that he also threw out a base runner at home during today’s game.

Brewers top prospects account for seven RBI’s during the later stage of the game.

After Mitchell got the Brewers on the board, the Brewers ended up tying the game in the sixth inning thanks to a Mike Brosseau home run and a base hit by Brice Turang in which a run scored do to a throwing error.  Turang’s hit did not count as a RBI because of the error.

Top Brewers prospects Hedbert Perez, Jefferson Quero, and Tyler Black did a lot of damage in the eighth and ninth innings of this game.  Perez hit a two run home run in the eighth and then a RBI double in the ninth.  Quero collected a RBI double in the eighth.  Lastly, Black had two doubles with one of them driving in two runs.

All together, the Brewers scored 10 runs with nine of their runs coming off of RBI hits.  Brewers prospects Garrett Mitchell, Hedbert Perez, Jefferson Quero, and Tyler Black had seven RBI’s all together.  There is a lot to be excited about regarding this group of prospects and Craig Counsell had this to say about their performance today.

“The young guys kind of delivered the blow today.  That was fun to watch.”

Monday’s victory moves the Brewers to 2-2 in Cactus League play.  The Brewers will play again on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.  The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 PM CT.
