The Brewers start the second half of their schedule on Friday with a series against the Rockies. The Brewers had a great start to the season in their first 50 games, and then injuries started to pile up. Brandon Woodruff, Willy Adames, Kolten Wong, Hunter Renfroe, Aaron Ashby, and Tyrone Taylor have all missed time. Josh Hader began to struggle as well. However, the Brewers look healthy coming out of the All-Star Break and will hope to get Freddy Peralta back in August. Here are three bold predictions for the rest of the season.
Tyrone Taylor hits 15 Home Runs
Before the break, Tyrone Taylor had started to settle into his everyday role with Lorenzo Cain being DFA’d and retiring. However, a concussion kept him out of the lineup heading into the All-Star break. In the second half, the Brewers will look to get Tyrone Taylor’s bat back in the lineup and give the offense a boost. Taylor has nine home runs this year. Taylor has the power to go on and have a big second half, but he has to stay healthy.
Brewers Win the NL Central
Right now the Brewers are half a game up on the Cardinals right now. The Brewers’ second-half schedule is difficult, but they don’t have many large road trips. In the first half, the Brewers had three consecutive three-city road trips. The Cardinals’ schedule is easier than the Brewers, but the Brewers are going into the second half healthy. The Brewers are arguably healthy for the first time all year, and All-Star pitcher Freddy Peralta is not even back yet. Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff have been great, but injuries and a tough schedule led to some woes. The Brewers will look to take control of the division in the second half.
Josh Hader Returns to Dominance
It’s crazy to think that after a few bad games Josh Hader is being criticized for the way he has been. However, it speaks to how great he is. Hader skipped the All-Star Game and got some much-needed rest. Hader is one of the most important pieces in the Brewers’ chase for a World Series. Hader will look to bounce back and start a new streak of scoreless appearances and saves.
