Since joining the Milwaukee Brewers last May, Willy Adames has been crushing the baseball. Over this timeframe he has hit 38 home runs, which is the most among shortstops.
In 2022 alone, he has 18 home runs. This is currently the most among National League shortstops. It also ties him with a franchise record for the most amount of home runs prior to the All-Star break by a Brewers shortstop. This was previously set by J.J. Hardy in 2007.
In 2007, J.J. Hardy hit 18 long balls prior to the All-Star break. He ended up getting the honor of playing in the mid-summer classic that year. On Tuesday night, Willy Adames tied J.J. Hardy with 18 pre All-Star break home runs. While Adames was not elected to the All-Star game, it is impressive that he has tied this franchise record given the fact that he missed three weeks worth of games after an ankle injury.

If Adames plays in every game leading up to the All-Star break, he will have five more game chances to break J.J. Hardy’s record. Aside from breaking a record, Adames is the team leader in home runs with Rowdy Tellez trailing just behind him. The Brewers are very dependent upon the home run ball this year and Adames finds himself at the epicenter of that.
