Willy Adames has made a name for himself since arriving in Milwaukee in May of 2021. Over that time frame he’s hit 51 home runs, 57 doubles, slashed .256/.325/.483 and had a 122 OPS+. In a recent interview with Adam McCalvy, he indicated that him and the Brewers have broached the idea of a contract extension. He currently has two years of club control remaining. Despite him wanting to stay with the Brewers, teams have reportedly shown interest in trading for him. MLB trade rumors had an article indicating that the Dodgers are interested in Willy Adames.
The article states that Juan Toribio was the person to report that the Dodgers have interest in Willy Adames. With Trea Turner available on the free agent market, it is possible that the Dodgers are looking into back up plans should they not be able to retain him. Other available shortstops include Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson.
Willy Adames eventually will receive a big payday.
2023 will be Adames’ age 27 season in which he is in the prime of his career. The Brewers are expected to be a contending team again next year and Adames figures to be a key cog in their lineup. He’s been one of the team’s top contributors over the past two seasons and is a great club house presence.
Eventually, Adames will be looking at a massive payday. He plays a premier position in shortstop and is coming off a season where he hit 31 home runs and had 98 RBI. It is very hard to find players of his caliber that contribute both at the plate and with the glove.
Hopefully the Brewers will be able to sign Adames to an extension rather than part ways with him. Until an extension happens, expect more rumors to circulate regarding the availability of Adames via trade.
