The Milwaukee Brewers have had a very busy news week. Between Jacob Misiorowski’s MLB debut, Aaron Civale’s demanding for a trade and it being granted, the team listening to offers on Jake Bauers, and Freddy Peralta being unsuccessful in attempts at a new contract, there has been a lot of information to keep track of.
One thing that might have gotten lost in the shuffle are some words from Civale’s agent, Jack Toffey. Prior to Civale being traded to the White Sox, Toffey revealed critical information that Milwaukee was looking to not only trade his client, but another pitcher on the team as well.
Aaron Civale’s agent revealed that the Milwaukee Brewers are looking to trade at least one more pitcher

In an article from Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic, he broke down the details that led to Civale requesting a trade from the Brewers. He also revealed information from opposing teams, which includes Milwaukee actively looking for trade partners to deal from a position of strength.
“I’ve heard from other teams, through their channels of communication, that they have a plethora of starting pitching and are looking for trade partners, maybe not just on Aaron (Civale), but maybe another pitcher. That’s my understanding.”
-Jack Toffey
Which Brewers starting pitchers could be available via trade?

One Brewers pitcher whose name has been tossed around frequently as a trade target this summer is Freddy Peralta. The team’s ace will be a free agent after the 2026 season, in which he is due just $8.0 million next year. Between his 1.5 years of control, salary, and performance, his trade value is currently at its peak and Milwaukee could look to capitalize on that.
Other possibilities include dealing a lefty including DL Hall or Aaron Ashby. Hall has been solid since making a delayed 2025 debut, but he struggled early on last year and came back in a bullpen role. Similarly, Ashby is no longer a starter, but has been solid as a reliever. Moving Ashby would be slightly more difficult given he is owed $5.7 million in 2026 and $7.7 million in 2027.
Regardless of what happens, it is very much like Brewers executive Matt Arnold to explore all options. He may not elect to trade any starting pitchers, but he will at least consider all possibilities.
