This is a very cool comparison for the rookie, and he greatly appreciated it. Joey Wiemer claimed that he loves that comparison because Pence was one of his favorite players to watch growing up.
The interview dives into the start of Wiemer’s big-league career. He was asked how he got so comfortable at the big league level so fast.
Wiemer responded, “I try to keep things as simple as possible. I’m not out there chasing numbers… I’m just trying to go out there and be the best I can be every day.”
This response has perfectly summed up Wiemer’s start to the season. It hasn’t been perfect. There have been ups and downs, but Wiemer has always kept his composure and kept going to work.
This was an exceptional overall interview with the Brewers rookie. Joey Wiemer drew comparisons to an excellent former player and gave an awesome quote. Who knows, maybe in 10 years, that quote will be hung up in American Family Field.
