Milwaukee Brewers National League Central Division rivals, the Cincinnati Reds, turned heads on Sunday when they reunited with slugger Eugenio Suarez.
The veteran infielder signed a one-year contract worth $15 million with the Reds, which is widely regarded as a great move for Cincinnati, which entered the MLB offseason looking to bolster its power at the plate.
Suarez, who suited up for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Seattle Mariners in the 2025 MLB season, is coming back to a place he considers his baseball home, having played seven of his first eight seasons in the big leagues in Cincinnati.
Speaking of which, an old video from 2022 has made its rounds on social media following the news of Suarez’s return to Cincy. In the clip, he told reporters that “Maybe I finish here [Cincinnati], who knows?”

Suarez and the Reds initially parted ways in March 2022, when they traded him to the Mariners. A year later, the Mariners sent him to the Diamondbacks before reuniting with him just before the 2025 MLB trade deadline.
Brewers to see more of Suarez again
Expected to hit mostly as a designated hitter in 2026, Suarez should help improve the power numbers of Cincinnati.
In 2025, the Reds hit just 167 home runs and posted just a .391 slugging percentage — both 21st overall in the big leagues. Suarez hit just .228 in 2025, but finished fifth in MLB with 49 home runs.
As for the Brewers, they will see more of Suarez again. For what it’s worth, the 34-year-old Suarez has a career .239/.322/.444 with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs in 55 appearances and 230 plate appearances at Miller Park/American Family Field.
