In November, the Milwaukee Brewers made a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Brew Crew received reliever Javy Guerra and the Rays a player to be named later. Four months following this trade being announced, the Brewers cost of acquiring Javy Guerra has been announced. Minor League prospect Victor Castaneda is being sent to Tampa.
The player to be named later in the Nov. 18 trade that sent reliever Javy Guerra from the Rays to the Brewers has been named: RHP Victor Castaneda.

Guerra, who is out of minor league options, elected to participate in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. During Panama’s short time in the tournament, Javy Guerra picked up a clutch save against Team Italy. Panama has since been eliminated and Guerra will now have to focus his attention on making the Brewers opening day roster.
Brewers prospect Victor Castaneda is officially announced as the PTBNL in the Javy Guerra trade.
Castaneda, a 24 year old pitcher, had previously spent some time on the Brewers top 30 prospect list. He was removed from the rankings during a recent update, but did work his way up to Triple-A last season. He has been almost exclusively as a starting pitcher throughout his career and has a 4.46 ERA over 345 MiLB innings.
