September has finally arrived and in the baseball world that means rosters expand by two players. Effective today, the Brewers have to carry 28 total players on their active roster instead of 26. The two players whom the Brewers elected to promote were outfielder Esteury Ruiz and RHP Luis Perdomo.

Both players were previously on the 40 man roster, which means that no player had to be removed in order to make room for these two players on the active roster.
Esteury Ruiz
Ruiz is an outfielder who was acquired in the Josh Hader trade package. Since joining the Brewers, he has spent his time in Triple-A. In 22 games with the Sounds, he has a .326/.383/.395/.778 slash line and has swiped 10 bases. Speed is his biggest strength and he now has 70 steals all together this minor league season!
With the Padres, Ruiz made his major league debut earlier in 2022. He appeared in just 14 games, so he has very little major league experience. That is not to say that he won’t make an impact on the Brewers. We’ve seen recently promoted Garrett Mitchell provide a spark with his bat and legs, so hopefully Ruiz can do the same!
Luis Perdomo
Perdomo had an incredible spring training with the Brewers earlier in the year. He did not make the big league team out of camp, but by May he was pitching at the major league level. Unfortunately he only threw 10 innings for the Crew before landing on the IL with an elbow effusion. This is his first season back after missing all of 2021 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
With the Sounds, Perdomo completed his rehab assignment and was subsequently optioned down at the beginning part of August. He’s been working primarily out of the bullpen and throwing 1-2 innings at a time, including a few saves. He looked impressive when he was with the Brewers earlier in the year, so hopefully he can provide some stability to the Brewers bullpen that had a rough month of August.
The Brewers have just three off days remaining the rest of the season. They will be looking to utilize all of their players, so expect both Ruiz and Perdomo to be in game actual rather quickly!
