The Milwaukee Brewers have assembled one of the best pitching staffs in baseball this season. Not everything came together at once, as a few players had hiccups in seasons prior. However, in 2021, everything seems to be coming to fruition as the pitching staff just set a MLB record for being the first team ever to reach 1,000 strikeouts prior to their 100th game.
The Milwaukee Brewers just became the first NL team ever to strike out 1000 batters in fewer than 100 games played.
Burnes, Peralta and Woodruff all rank in the top 7 in the NL in K’s.

Corbin Burnes leads the Brewers in strikeouts at 146, with Freddy Peralta comes in second at 140 and Brandon Woodruff third at 137. In the bullpen, Josh Hader has the most at 64 and Devin Williams second at 52. It has been a great team effort to accomplish this feat.
Along with having the highest strikeout totals across the MLB, the Brewers have three pitchers in the top five in terms of the lowest ERA. At this point in the season, that is quite impressive!
MLB ERA leaders at the moment (qualifiers)
1. Kevin Gausman 1.94
2. Brandon Woodruff 2.04
3. Corbin Burnes 2.12
4. Carlos Rodón 2.24
5. Freddy Peralta 2.29 https://t.co/oWxobe9qHX— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) July 25, 2021
Pitching is clearly a strength for this Brewers team and will play a big part of the teams second-half success. No team wants to enter a playoff series knowing they are going to face the electric trio of Woodruff, Burnes, and Peralta.
If we can get picky, one could argue that the bullpen depth is an area the team could improve upon. Rumors have indicated the Brewers are pursing extra help here. The MLB trade deadline is less than one week away and there are plenty of bullpen options. Given their current path, the Brewers may pursue high strikeout type pitchers at the deadline.
All-in-all, this Brewers pitching staff excels in punching out batters and they are a ton of fun to watch. Hopefully more history can be made from a pitching standpoint this year in the form of a Cy Young award winner.
