Last summer, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted Jacob Misiorowski in the second round of the MLB draft. He currently slots in as the teams eighth ranked prospect.
In college, Misiorowski made a name for himself by striking out a lot of batters. He surpassed a record held by current Brewer Aaron Ashby. That record was the highest amount of strikeouts in a game (18). He also recorded 136 punch outs in a single season. 136 strikeouts was good enough for the third most in the league in 2022.
Given his performance, the Crowder College product was labeled by some as the “steal of the draft”. His lethal high velocity fastball and slider combination is expected to do very well in professional baseball.
2023 will be Misiorowski’s first full season as a minor league player. Could he become the next big breakout prospect for the Brewers?
Misiorowski was listed as the Brewers potential breakout prospect for 2023 by Joel Reuter.
After the draft, Misiorowski made his minor league debut with the Carolina Mudcats. He made just two appearances and struggled with command. Overall he recorded just six outs and walked seven batters.
The 6’7” hurler will have to find the strike zone more consistently in 2023 if he wants to breakout as a prospect. Throwing in the triple digits doesn’t mean much if the command isn’t there.
Hopefully Misiorowski can get his long limbs and delivery in sync next year and have a great 2023. He has the chance to be an exceptional pitcher and it will be interesting to see how he does during his first full minor league season.
