The Brewers currently have a couple of players who are dealing with injury. These injuries occurred during the offseason and are being dealt with before a single spring training game has been played. Both Aaron Ashby and Jason Alexander have shoulder issues and are expected to miss multiple months. The injury bug now has spread to the outfield as today it was announced that Tyrone Taylor will miss the first two weeks of Cactus League play due to an elbow sprain.
Tyrone Taylor has a sprained elbow and will miss the first two weeks of Cactus League games, Craig Counsell says. Just needs rest; no structural damage.

Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor will miss two weeks of spring training games due to an elbow sprain.
Per Todd Rosiak, Taylor injured his elbow during offseason workouts and recently re-aggravated it. It’s bothersome enough that the Brewers are going to hold him out of the first two weeks of spring training games. Last year Jace Peterson missed five weeks with an overuse elbow problem, so hopefully two weeks will be enough time for him to heal.
At this time, Taylor is a potential starter in the outfield along with Christian Yelich and Garrett Mitchell. New addition Jesse Winker is expected to serve primarily as the designated hitter to begin the year. The only other outfielder on the Brewers 40-man roster is Blake Perkins, who has not yet made his MLB debut.
If Taylor’s injury would require him to miss more time than expected, Milwaukee does have some other options to turn to. They recently signed veteran Tyler Naquin to a Minor League contract and also brought back Monte Harrision. Prospects Sal Frelick and Joey Wiemer are also knocking on the door to being big league ready.
Hopefully two weeks is enough recovery time for Taylor, but should his elbow pain linger it’s good to know that the Brewers have some intriguing back up options.
