A Milwaukee Brewers hitter finally has a torpedo bat and it was used in the series finale on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers. Several other Brewers are still waiting to receive their custom bats, but for now all eyes will be on one player as he is the lone man with a torpedo bat on the team.

Of the players who purchased a torpedo bat, Oliver Dunn is the first member of the Brewers to obtain one. Interestingly, Dunn told MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy that he put his order in late, but he believes that he may have received his first because Tucci may have had more ready to go.

Oliver Dunn put the torpedo bat to unconventional use
After receiving the bat, Oliver Dunn wasted no time getting it into game action as he debuted it Wednesday against the Tigers. He got about 50ish swings off with it during a cage routine before the game.
Of course the first situation Dunn came across was with a runner on third base and less than two outs, so in Brewers fashion he laid down a bunt to score the runner.
Dunn only received one other at-bat in this contest, in which he grounded out.
As the torpedo bat experiment continues, all attention will shift to how Dunn performs with the cutting-edge tool moving forward. With the rest of the team still awaiting their custom versions, his at-bats will serve as the first real glimpse into how the bat performs in game action. Whether it becomes a game-changer or just a novelty, the early results will be watched closely.
