Milwaukee Brewers star William Contreras has been very impressive this season in terms of caught stealing percentage. He currently lead the league in that department with a 25.0% (14 CS/56 SB ATT) caught stealing rate.

What’s more impressive about that is he has been doing that hurting. The Venezuela catcher has been playing with a fractured finger but he is playing through it.
He has been like that since the last two weeks of April but manager Pat Murphy kept him on the floor in almost all of the games as they thought the injury was not that serious.
“We’ll see what it is,” Murphy said when asked about the injury in April 24 in finale with the San Francisco Giants.
“We hope that it’s nothing more serious than it locked up on him a little bit.”

Contreras himself is not showing any signs that he was hurting, even trying to crack jokes with reporters.
The team cannot afford to lose him with their recent struggles as they are already dealing with injuries to their bullpen.
X-ray confirms William Contreras’ finger injury
Murphy repeated what everyone knows on Tuesday after their win against the Houston Astros. That Contreras is playing through injury.
This time, however, the pain needed an x-ray.
The results came back and it is not promising according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.

The bigger issue is that Contreras will soldier on like the results don’t matter.
Update after last night’s x-ray: The Brewers’ William Contreras does have a fracture of the middle finger on his catching hand, but it’s an old fracture that has bothered him for some time. He will continue to play through it.

The team will try to provide band-aid solution according to McCalvy.
“The Brewers are working with Contreras to make a splint for that finger to absorb some of the impact he absorbs on a daily basis. He will continue to catch,” he wrote.
