Brandon Woodruff has been with the Milwaukee Brewers since 2017 and for 2025, he wants to play like someone with a chip on his shoulder.
The right-hand pitcher’s return is imminent as he gets assigned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

This is the next step in his rehab of his right shoulder injury that made him miss most of the 2024 season. Reports say he will be in the minors and start in many games as they ramp up his work load. Brewers might also call him up sooner than expected.
He was splendid during this outing.
Brandon Woodruff’s first rehab outing is done and it was rather encouraging. Allowed only hits — both bloop singles in the fourth and final inning that led to 2 runs — across 3.2 innings. Struck out five and hit 95 mph on this K in the final inning. pic.twitter.com/shOawnKXjv

He did not play in the 2024 season but the Brewers still re-signed him. The trust the team has in him is unwavering.
However, for the 32-year-old, he feels this season is more important than any other.
Brandon Woodruff will play with sense of urgency
Woodruff’s return will be huge for the Brewers who has a problem with pitching as injuries mount.
He wants to help but it is not just his mission this season. He wants to play as he can because he wants to be at his best again and defy injury histories of pitchers.
“That’s one of the big reasons I signed back here. I needed to wear this uniform again and I thought this is the best chance for me to get back to the pitcher I can be,” he said.

“Just thinking about it, it’s a long journey, and it’s hard, and there’s not been many cases of this surgery. There’s been successes, but it’s a shoulder. Doing what I’ve done and taking my time with it is going to be best for me.”
He played in the spring training last month and he showed signs that he can still be a big time pitcher.
He recorded a fastball velocity ranged – from 91-95 mph in the bullpen – that even he was surprised.
