The Milwaukee Brewers made a big noise following the Winter Meetings, as they traded outfielder Isaac Collins and right-handed reliever Nick Mears to the American League Central Division in exchange for lefty reliever Angel Zerpa.
The trade has come as a surprise to many, given Collins’ potential. In his first full season in the big leagues, Collins hit .263/.368/.411 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs to go with a 118 OPS+ through 130 games (441 plate appearances). In the playoffs, however, Collins went just 0-for-9 with seven strikeouts.
But Collins is indeed now with the Royals, as he and the Brewers now move on in separate directions.
Milwaukee, however, made sure to send a special message to Collins as they part ways.
Brewers send message to Collins after trade with Royals
“Thank you for all the magic, Isaac,” the Brewers wrote in a social media post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The future is bright for Collins, and he won’t realize his full potential in the league with Milwaukee. Now, the Royals will look to help continue his development in the big leagues.
Apart from his aforementioned numbers in 2025, Collins also finished fourth in the voting for the National League Rookie of the Year award behind Drake Baldwin of the Atlanta Braves, Cade Horton of the Chicago Bears and Brewers’ Caleb Durbin.

Collins’ defense is also one area that can’t be slept on, having led the big leagues in 2025 with six outs above average in left field.
