Today was not an ordinary spring baseball game for the Milwaukee Brewers. Rather than playing a game within the Cactus League, Milwaukee got the opportunity to scrimmage Team Great Britain prior to them participating in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. This also provided the Brewers with an opportunity to play some players/prospects who have not seen as much live game action. One player who was in the starting lineup was the organization’s top prospect Jackson Chourio.
We play Great Britain today.

Brewers media personnel went crazy over the performance that top prospect Jackson Chourio had in his first spring game with the Big League club.
Chourio, who turns 19 years old on March 11, has accomplished a lot at his young age. While accolades obtained last year such as Carolina League MVP and Minor League Gold Glove are in the past, he is hitting the ground running this year. In today’s action, his first with the Major League club, he hit two doubles, had a very hard ground out, and threw out a runner at home.

Jackson Chourio also just threw a runner out at the plate. So there’s that, too.

Jackson Chourio’s day so far: Double down the line, hard groundout, threw out a runner at home plate from left field, line-drive double over the left fielder’s head. The man can play ball.

Okay.
I get it now.
Jackson Chourio. This kid is a freak.

You don’t truly understand what the scouts and the prospect analysts are seeing until you see it yourself.
Lightning quick hands, a combo of power and speed, and the confidence in the box like he’s an 18-year veteran, not an 18-year-old. (He’s 19 on Saturday)

In his second at-bat, Jackson Chourio absolutely blisters a ball. The only problem? It was right into the ground.
CyrtCast registered it at 105 mph off the bat, give or take.
