The Milwaukee Brewers’ homestand did not get off to the start they had hoped for. The ball seemed to have eyes for Miami hitters, and they “roughed up” Corbin Burnes for five runs (four earned). However, Burnes still struck out nine and walked none, keeping his streak in tact. He has now struck out 49 batters and walked none through five starts. Despite giving up four earned runs, he owns a sparkly 1.53 ERA. Following the loss, the Brewers will be looking to bounce back today and tomorrow, keeping their streak of winning series in tact as well.
Brewers’ Starting Pitcher: Adrian Houser
Adrian Houser is 1-2 with a 3.32 ERA so far this season. While he does not always make to even the fifth inning, he was yet to allow more than three runs in any of his starts. After the short outing by Burnes, the Brewers will need Houser to make a longer start. With Brett Anderson on the IL, it is likely that Brent Suter will start tomorrow’s game, and the bullpen pitched quite a bit last night.
The Miami Marlins do not have many at bats against Houser. Only three players have faced him and have a combined five plate appearances against him.
Marlins’ Starting Pitcher: Daniel Castro
Daniel Castro will be making his third start of the season, and first against a team not named the Giants. In his two starts, Castro is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA. The Brewers have not faced Castro in the past.
The Milwaukee Brewers, prone to striking out, may be able to have a better offensive day against Castro. Of the 40 batters he has faced, he has only struck out two of them.
