Two Milwaukee Brewers pitchers entered the 2025 season with milestones in sight. Nearly one and a half months in, one has reached a rare feat of 2,000 innings pitched whereas another is closing in on 1,000 strikeouts.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher reaches a rare feat of 2,000 career innings pitched

On Friday night, Jose Quintana crossed the 2,000 career innings pitched mark, becoming just the sixth active player to do so. The other five players, and there innings pitched in parenthesis, are Justin Verlander (3,457.2), Max Scherzer (2,881.0), Clayton Kershaw (2,742.2), Charlie Morton (2,157.1), and Chris Sale (2,000.1).
Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole, who is out for the year due undergoing elbow surgery, is the next closest player to 2,000 innings pitched and he sits at 1954.0. The all-time leader record for innings pitched throughout a career is 7,356.0 and that is held by Cy Young.
Freddy Peralta is closing in on 1,000 career strikeouts

2025 is Freddy Peralta’s eighth MLB season, and he is currently just three strikeouts away from the 1,000 milestone. He should easily hit that during his next outings. Peralta has two seasons of 200 or more strikeouts, had 195 during the 2021 campaign, but otherwise has an impressive 11.22 career K:9 ratio.
Peralta is slated to take the mound next Monday, May 12 against the Guardians. He did have a slight issue with his groin after his last outing, but per Adam McCalvy at MLB.com he recently threw a bullpen, had no issues, and is on track to make that start as scheduled.
