After sweeping the Los Angeles Angels, the Milwaukee Brewers were tripped up on Friday night by the St. Louis Cardinals during the start of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.
With Jacob Misiorowski starting on the mound for them, the Brewers found themselves behind early. Misiorowski allowed two earned runs on five hits with three walks issued in just 3 1/2 innings of work against St. Louis. Misiorowski’s poor performance eventually led to a 7-1 Milwaukee loss.
Brewers’ Misiorowski sounds off after 7-1 loss to Cardinals

The Brewers have already clinched an MLB playoff berth, but they have yet to shut the door on the Chicago Cubs’ chances to win the National League Central division. That said, Misiorowski’s form is perhaps more concerning at this point for Milwaukee, whose magic number is down to win the NL Central, as the Cubs lost to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.
“I was hoping for a little bit more,” Misiorowski said after the game, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. “But at the same time, I wasn’t getting the ground balls that were necessary for that. So, you know, it’s kind of on me.”
Misiorowski left the contest with two outs in the fourth inning, as Rob Zastryzny replaced him on the mound.
Before the 2025 MLB All-Star break, Misiorowski had a 4-1 record and a 2.81 ERA to go along with a 0.90 WHIP through five starts. Since the break, though, he has gone 1-2 with a 5.45 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over nine starts.
With the MLB playoffs looming, the Brewers have a decision on which part of the pitching staff Misiorowski will be assigned. His recent stumbles have made it harder for the Brewers to trust him in a starting role. In any case, Misiorowski will have to get it together sooner than later if he wants to stay in the rotation. He has one more probable starting duties before the playoffs, and that’s likely to be during the next series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
