Entering the 2021 season, the Milwaukee Brewers had perhaps one of the deepest outfields on paper. As a whole, the outfield group has under performed to its high expectations. Chrisitan Yelich and Lorenzo Cain missed a lot of time earlier in the season due to injury and Jackie Bradley Jr is yet to get it going offensively. However, Avisail Garcia may be having his best season yet.
After a poor 2020 season, Avisail Garcia put in a lot of work with hitting coach Andy Haines. In addition to this, Garcia cut sugar out from his diet and lost a lot of weight during the off-season. He then reported to spring training in the best shape of his life.
So far the results have been great. Garcia has been healthy and likely will end with career bests in many statistical categories. He has played a huge part in the teams success this year due to his overall improved game.
Currently, Garcia has already set a new career high in home runs with 23. He will finish this year well above his previous season high of 20. Additionally, he is eight RBIs short of tying his career best of 80 and his .500 slugging percentage is just six points short of a career high as well.
Perhaps more important than chasing personal bests is that Garcia has shown the ability to carry the team at times. Earlier in May, he was among one of the leagues best hitters. Since the All-Star break, he also has been on a tear.
He was pretty good in 2017 for White Sox, but the Brewers may be getting a career year from Avisaíl García, especially considering all-around game. Since the all-star break: 1.023 OPS, 7 HRs, striking out just 13 percent of time.

Having Avisail Garcia playing the best baseball of his career in conjunction with players like Willy Adames and Eduardo Escobar is certainly exciting. The team is expected to make a deep play-off push and Garcia is expected to play a big role in that.
It is worth noting that Garcia is having a career year in what could be his final year as a Brewer. He has a club option for the 2022 season of $12 MM but this will turn into a mutual option if he hits 550 plate appearances. It will be interesting to see what happens with Garcia this off-season.
