The Milwaukee Brewers will be without two of their All-Star pitchers for the time being. Freddy Peralta left his start on Sunday early due to tightness in his throwing shoulder. Josh Hader was away from the team due to a family medical emergency. On Monday, the team clarified the extent of both circumstances.
Freddy Peralta Will Be Out a While
Freddy Peralta opened up about his injury after the game on Sunday. He knew he would be going to the IL, but was waiting for a MRI to reveal what was wrong. What it revealed was a shoulder strain that will keep him for a good chunk of the season.
Freddy Peralta will miss “significant” time, Craig Counsell said. The good news for the Brewers, though, is that they expect to have him back this season. A “lengthy absence” but they’re optimistic about his future return.

For the time being, the Brewers will go with a five-man rotation. Aaron Ashby is expected to start on Wednesday in San Diego. Peralta is 3-2 with a 4.42 ERA on the year.
Josh Hader Is Absent to Be with His Wife
Freddy Peralta’s injury is just part of the game. Unfortunate, but it happens. Josh Hader, though, is going through something no person should have to. His wife is pregnant and is having complications with her pregnancy. She is in a place right now that made Hader uncomfortable with leaving for a long road trip.
Craig Counsell said Josh Hader will be away for the Padres series and then they will assess. “Josh’s wife has had complications with her pregnancy, and they are at a stage where Josh did not feel comfortable leaving,” Counsell said.

Obviously, it is not ideal to be without the best closer in baseball. However, some things are bigger than the game and this is certainly one of them. We hope nothing but the best for Mrs. Hader and their baby.
The Brewers Announce Roster Moves
Freddy Peralta has been placed on the 15-Day IL, though he will undoubtedly miss more time than that. Hader is being placed on Family Medical Emergency List. Trevor Kelley and Miguel Sanchez, both right handed relievers, have been called up from Triple-A Nashville.

Kelley is 1-1 with a 0.69 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 13 games for the Nashville Sounds. He also has struck out 17 batters in just 13 innings. Kelley has two saves on the season for the Sounds. In one game with Milwaukee this season, Kelley earned a win while allowing an unearned run. It was the first win of his Major League career.
Miguel Sanchez is returning to Milwaukee for the first time this season. Last year, he appeared in 28 games with the Brewers. Sanchez was 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA. This year in Nashville, he is 4-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 15 games.
