The Miami Marlins traveled to Milwaukee on Monday to open up a three game series with the Fish. Corbin Burnes looked to continue his impressive, record breaking season against the opposing pitcher, Trevor Rogers. Rogers came into the game with a 2-1 record while sporting a 1.64 ERA.
Burnes strong early…
Corbin Burnes’ game started off as usual. Dominant. After giving up a hit to the first batter of the game, Burnes then sat down the next ten batters he faced until beloved former Brewer, Jesus Aguilar, singled to center. Aguilar then scored on a two out double from Garrett Cooper. The not-so-speedy Aguilar scored all the way from first on a miss play from Billy McKinney.

Runners left stranded…
While Burnes continued his pitching dominance early in the game, the Brewers bats were coming up short on their chances at run support. Despite getting hits in each of the first three innings, the Crew squandered their opportunities to go up early as each inning ended in a double play.
Marlins open it up in the sixth…
Corbin Burnes ran into the most trouble he’s seen so far this season in the sixth inning when Jazz Chisholm Jr. lead-off with a ground rule double. The Marlins would get five straight hits to open the inning. Burnes was clearly frustrated with himself as he was pulled from the game for reliever, Drew Rasmussen.
Offensive Woes Continue…
The Brewers continued to fail with runners in scoring position as the Brewers got runners on base in four of the last five innings and seven out of nine innings overall.
The Marlins would tack on a few more runs in the eight and ninth and win the game by a score of 8-0, handing the Crew their second worse loss of the season.
The Brewers will look to even the series up on Tuesday.
Silver Linings…
Kolten Wong’s bat is still on fire. Since returning from the IL, Wong has been seeing the ball extremely well these past four games while knocking in ten hits.
Drew Rasmussen looked good in his two innings of relief. Rasmussen struck out three and had only one batter reach base, who he walked.
Tyrone Taylor continues to impress. Taylor notched two more hits on Sunday bringing his total to six in his 15 at bats so far this season. (Shout out Anna)
