Brent Suter took the mound in Miami for his first start in 2021 as the Brewers opened up a three game series against the Marlins. The Fish jumped on the Raptor early as Miguel Rojas singled to lead of the bottom of the first. he would then get to third base on a fielders choice and a passed ball. Rojas would then score the first run of the game when Adam Duvall hit a sharp grounder to Tyrone Taylor in left field.
Suter would then pitch a scoreless second inning but ran into more trouble in the third. After allowing two of the first three batters reach base safely, Brent Suter then the game with cramping in his right calf.
Patrick Weigel would come in relief for the Brewers but trouble was around the corner. After walking Adam Duvall, Isan Diaz would smash the first pitch he saw for a grand slam for the Marlins to give them a 5-0 lead.

The only run the Brewers scored came in the fourth inning when Pablo Reyes knocked in Luis Urias who had doubled earlier in the inning.

Miami would tack on another run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a double from Jesus Aguilar to bring the game to 6-1 and that’s where the game would stay the rest of the way.
Fridays game was the 14th game in a row with no off day for the Brewers as they try to find their way out of a six game losing streak that includes giving up four grand slams. Craig Counsell struggled to hide his frustration about the skid in his post game press conference.

The Crew also looks to get back their starting catchers soon, which should bring a boost both offensively and defensively.
Craig Counsell said Omar Narváez (left hamstring) started running a few days and will start catching this weekend. Manny Piña (fractured toe) is making good progress and hopeful he’ll be available this weekend.

The Brewers and Marlins continue their series on Saturday.
Silver Linings…
Luis Urias continues to improve at the plate going two for four and scoring the Brewers only run of the night.
Alec Bettinger pitched three innings in relief only giving up one run on two hits while striking out four batters.
Jordan Zimmerman pitched a two innings and didn’t give up any runs.
