The Milwaukee Brewers had dropped two games in a row on the road in St. Louis. Milwaukee needed a win on Sunday to split the series and widen their lead in the National League Central. They did just that with the help of some big home runs and a Cy Young-worthy performance from the reigning Cy Young winner.
Corbin Burnes Hits a Big Strikeout Milestone
Corbin Burnes looked like his dominant self on Sunday afternoon. The right-hander threw seven strong innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11. During the course of the afternoon, Burnes reached 500 strikeouts for his career.
ANOTHER milestone for the reigning Cy Young winner.

Burnes is now 3-2 on the season with a 1.95 ERA. Today’s outing was Burnes’ sixth quality start of the season. He has allowed two runs or less in seven of his nine starts this season.

The Brewers Offense Came Alive
After struggling to score runs in their previous two games. The Milwaukee Brewers offense exploded for eight runs on Sunday afternoon. Much of the damage came against St. Louis Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas, who was 3-2 with a 1.95 ERA coming into the game. After allowing six runs in 5.2 innings, Mikolas is now 3-3 with a 2.67 ERA.
Omar Narvaez Had Himself a Day!
Omar Narvaez was an All-Star last season. Despite this, he has not received a lot of the exposure and attention that other Brewers players receive. Perhaps that should change as he is starting to really heat up at the plate. He put the Brewers on the board in the second innings with this RBI double to drive in Tyrone Taylor.

At the end of the day, Narvaez was a home run short of the cycle. He hit his first triple of the season in the top of the sixth inning. Narvaez also walked and singled today.

Jace Pederson Hit a 3-Run Home Run
Jace Pederson has been off to a rough start this season. Indeed, “On-Base Jace” is hitting just .212/.304/.374 after making his first Opening Day roster. He had himself a great day today, though. Pederson collected two hits, including this monster three-run home run:

With how well Keston Hiura has been hitting this week (batting .304 in his last seven games), one has to assume that Pederson is playing for his roster spot. Willy Adames has already begun his rehab games down in Carolina, and a move could be made later this week.

Rowdy Tellez Takes Over the Team Lead in Home Runs
One of the most pleasant surprises on the season has been the emergence of Rowdy Tellez as a power bat in the middle of the order. Tellez was 2-4 with this monster home run:

Rowdy Tellez is now hitting .247/.314/.513 on the season with 10 home runs and 34 RBI.

Lorenzo Cain FINALLY Has a Big Game
Lorenzo Cain has been struggling mightily this season. Many fans have been calling for his benching given how hot Tyrone Taylor has been. However, with the injury woes that have plagued the Brewers lately, both Cain and Taylor found themselves in the starting lineup on Sunday. Cain came through big-time. He drove in Omar Narvaez on an infield single and then ripped this home run in the eighth:
