In January of 2024, the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a trade where southpaws Bryan Hudson and Justin Chambers switched organizations. Hudson was designated for assignment following the addition of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, whereas Chambers was a former 20th round draft pick.

At the time of the deal, Hudson had just six games of big league experience underneath his belt. Despite this, he quickly became a staple in the Brewers bullpen, ultimately posting a 1.73 ERA and 14 holds over 63.1 innings pitched.

Unfortunately, the heavy workload, the largest of his career, led to a decline in velocity as the season progressed, and his body failed to recover as expected. As a result, he was surprisingly demoted to the minors late in the year and ultimately left off the postseason roster.

In 2025, Hudson appeared in just 12 games for the Brewers before being designated for assignment at the trade deadline. He was claimed by the Chicago White Sox, who kept him on the roster until recently.

This winter the White Sox have been surprisingly active, with Austin Hays recently joining the organization. His addition to the 40-man led to Hudson being taken off. Hudson now can be traded or claimed by another organization, and if neither of those occur, any team could sign him to a deal.
