Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff will have to wait a little bit longer before making a triumphant return to a mound in a MLB game. Big Whoo last pitched in the big leagues on September 23, 2023, spent all of 2024 recovering from shoulder surgery, was poised to return this weekend against the Twins, but now a legitimate ankle injury will delay his return.
Brandon Woodruff’s 2025 MLB debut is being delayed due to ankle tendinitis

According to Adam McCalvy at MLB.com, Woodruff started dealing with ankle tendinitis before his final rehab start on May 11. That outing was short by design and the ankle did not play a factor as to why he only threw 2.1 innings. Regardless, the Brewers feel his ankle injury warrants treatment, a stint on the minor league injured list, and at least another rehab start before making his 2025 MLB debut.
When will we see Brandon Woodruff in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform again?

In the minor leagues, Woodruff has to wait a minimum of seven days before being eligible to come off the injured list. The Brewers then want him to make another minor league rehab start before returning. This means that at the earliest, a return around Memorial Day is likely for Woodruff.
Another Brewers pitcher has a “cranky arm” and their start was pushed back a few days

Additional news from the Brew Crew includes Jose Quintana dealing with a “cranky arm.” Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel indicated that he is currently penciled in as Friday’s starter against the Twins, when previously he was slated to start Wednesday’s finale against the Guardians.
