It is a new chapter in the baseball career of right-hander Brandon Sproat, who was one of the two players the New York Mets sent to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handers Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers. Outfielder Jett Williams was the other player the Mets traded to Milwaukee as part of the deal.
Sproat and Williams are far from household names yet, but Milwaukee is starting to get to know more about them. On Monday, Sproat and Williams met with reporters on Zoom.
Sproat reveals warm welcome from Brewers players
So far, for Sproat, it has been a great experience for him with his new team, thanks in part to the warm welcome he’s received from the other Milwaukee players.
On a Zoom with Milwaukee reporters, Brandon Sproat (one of the prospects coming over in the Freddy Peralta trade) said he’s already heard from Brandon Woodruff, Sal Frelick, Brice Turang and DL Hall. That means a lot, Sproat said, for a player coming to a new organization.
There is no assurance that Sproat will be on the roster on the 2026 Opening Day for Milwaukee, but he’ll get the chance to prove himself in the offseason.
And while Williams doesn’t have experience playing in the big leagues yet, Sproat has, albeit minimally.
Sproat made his debut in the big leagues in 2025, appearing in a total of four games (all starts) for the Mets.
In those appearances, he went 0-2 and allowed 11 earned runs on 18 hits (zero home runs) and issued seven walks with 17 strikeouts through 20.2 innings.
