The Milwaukee Brewers announced a flurry of roster moves the afternoon after their 15-1 loss against the San Fransisco Giants.
Move One: Willy Adames Placed On Seven Day Concussion List, Andrew Monasterio Called up From AAA
Willy Adames was struck in the head by a foul off the bat of Brian Anderson in game one of the Brewers series against the Giants, the good news is that Adames did not sustain a single fracture, and will not miss significant time. Adames is currently on the seven day concussion list.
In a corresponding move the Brewers called up, Andrew Monasterio. Monasterio has spent nearly a decade in minor league baseball between four differnet organizations. Over that time the infielder has become known for his strong plate vision, and speed. Monasterio has more walks (32) than strikeouts (29), and swiped 11 bases in 42 game for the Nashville Sounds this season. The Brewers haven’t announced how they plan on using the speedstar, but it’s clear he won’t be an easy out.
Ethan Small Optioned to AAA, Jake Cousins Recalled to MLB
It was one and done for Ethan Small and the Brewers. The southpaw appeared in one game and allowed five runs in three innings of work, and was sent back down to Triple-A the following day. Jake Cousins was recalled as the corresponding move. Cousins has bounced between the Milwaukee and Triple-A Nashville, and has oddly seen more succes in the Major Leagues. The right hander has posted a 5.19 ERA in eight Triple-A appearences, but a 3.24 ERA in seven Major League appearences.
Alex Claudio Designated For Assignment
Alex Claudio has been designated for assignment to clear space on the 40 man roster for Andrew Monasterio. Claudio recorded just one out for the Brewers this season and posted a 2.63 ERA in sixteen Triple-A appearences. The southpaw will likely remain in Nashville if he’s not claimed off waivers.
