Brewers and Phillies Start a Four Game Series

The Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies are starting a four-game series tonight in Philadelphia.  The Brewers just finished a four-game series at home against the Dodgers.  Despite being blown out in Game Four, the Brewers won the series three games to one and own the best record in the National League.  They will look to continue their winnings ways, despite a slew of injuries, against Philadelphia who are third in their division.

Brewers’ Starting Pitcher: Adrian Houser

Pitcher: Adrian Houser

Adrian Houser is coming off his best start of the season against the Miami Marlins.  He went 5.2 innings, giving up three runs and striking out seven.  Houser is now 2-2 on the season with a 3.65 ERA in five starts.  Away from American Family Field, Houser is 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies’ hitters have not seen very much of Adrian Houser.  Six hitters have two hits in eight at bats among them.  Scott Kingery has a hit in his only at bat against Houser.  Rhys Hoskins is one for three.  Andrew McCutchen, Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, and Andrew Knapp are all 0/1 against Houser in their careers.

Phillies’ Starting Pitcher: Vince Velasquez

Pitcher: Vince Velasquez

Vince Velasquez started the season in the Phillies’ bullpen.  Overall, he is 0-0 with a 6.57 ERA.  However, when starter Matt Moore went to the IL with COVID, Velasquez stepped in as a spot starter.  In two starts, he has a 5.40 ERA.  Tonight will be his third straight start since stepping in as a starter.

Jackie Bradley Jr. is a perfect 3/3 against Velasquez in his career.  Travis Shaw is 2/4 with a home run, and Kolten Wong is 1/3 with a home run.  Billy McKinney is 1/2 against him, but Luis Urias is 0/3.  No other Brewers’ player has faced him.
