Brewers: 2023 Season Profile And Projections, Experts Believe In Milwaukee

As we gear up for opening day, Jomboy, Jake Storiale, and Trevor Plouffe of Talkin Baseball have been doing a 2023 season profile and projection for every Major League team.  As voted on by fans, the Milwaukee Brewers came in ranked as the 15th best team, however Jake and Trevor believe in Milwaukee and they took the over on the teams projected 85.5 wins.

Last year the Brewers finished the season 86-76 and missed the playoffs by one game.  There has been a lot of player turnover since 2022.  Kolten Wong, Hunter Renfroe, Andrew McCutchen, Omar Narvaez, Jace Peterson, Brad Boxberger, Taylor Rogers, Trevor Gott, and Justin Topa all left either through trade or free agency.

Similarly they have added Jesse Winker, William Contreras, Brian Anderson, Luke Voit, Tyler Naquin, Abraham Toro, Owen Miller, Wade Miley, Javy Guerra, Janson Junk, Joel Payamps, Tyson Miller, Elvis Peguero,  Bryse Wilson, and Justin Wilson.

Returners include players that form a top rotation in baseball including Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, Freddy Peralta, and Eric Lauer.  The bullpen is anchored down by Devin Williams.  Position players coming back include Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, and Rowdy Tellez.  Lastly there are intriguing prospects to consider including Garrett Mitchell and Brice Turang.

Jake and Trevor believe in the Milwaukee Brewers.

During the show, Trevor begins the show by saying ” They (Brewers) still have question marks.  That’s what I think.  We definitely know some of the people that are going to be there and need to produce for them.”  Later on in the show he additionally goes on to say, “If everything goes right.  Winker returns to form, if Rowdy hits 30 this year, if Yeli ups that slug, if Willy Adames puts himself in the MVP talk, which I think he could, like then we are talking.”

To end the show, Jake provided his rationale for picking the over (85.5 wins) on the Brewers this season.  “I believe in the Milwaukee Brewers.  They won 86 last year and it felt like they were never in a groove.  They ended up getting nice performances from Adames and Rowdy.  I’ll go over.  I don’t know what that means, it could be 86.  They pitch enough, they hit enough, and man if Jesse Winker can go.  If I had to bet on something I’d say his Seattle year will look more like an outlier.  So if I believe in that, then I believe in Contreras, Rowdy, Willy, Yelich, and Winker.  That’s a lineup man.  And they pitch in Milwaukee.”

The full podcast can be accessed by clicking on the video or link above.  It’s a great 23 minute dissection of the Brewers as we gear up for the start of the 2023 season.
