Brett Hundley has officially taken over the starting quarterback position of the Vegas Vipers. After joining the team late, Hundley sat for a game in order to better learn the offense. On Sunday, Brett Hundley had a monster day for the Vipers despite the team losing.

Brett Hundley Has Monster Day For The Vegas Vipers
His completion percentage was nothing to write home about going 13/28 but that was the only bad part of his stat line. He threw for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns, one to Jeff Badet and the other to John Lovett. He also added some great stats with his legs. Hundley attempted 8 rushes for 66 yards and added another score on the ground. This is the best the Vipers’ offense has looked in the first three weeks and Hundley is a huge part of it.

Let Down By The Defense
Ultimately, the defense had a rough day. Former NFL star Josh Gordon caught a long touchdown pass late in the game to take the lead which involved bad coverage and missed tackles. The Hundley-led offense still had some kinks but ultimately moved the ball very well. With the short XFL season, Hundley is going to need a lot more stat lines like Sundays in order to pull the Vipers back into the playoff picture.
The question on everyone’s mind while watching the XFL is how many of these players will get a chance in the NFL next season. If Brett Hundley keeps playing like this, I’ll bet that some team will give him a look in training camp if nothing else as a seasoned backup that can help the starter.
