Deep threat Sammy Watkins is in Green Bay today for a visit.  He spent last year with the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs before that.  While a deal is not currently imminent, he has officially touched down in Green Bay:

The #Packers are hosting WR Sammy Watkins on a visit today, sources say. No deal as of now but stay tuned.

    And there’s familiarity  there:

The Packers are indeed hosting Sammy Watkins on a free agent visit today, a source confirmed @MikeGarafolo's report.

Just the other day, Packers WR coach Jason Vrable was talking about Watkins from their days together in Buffalo. Noted how SW was the rare rookie WR who excelled.

Sammy Watkins posted this earlier this morning:

Great things are coming my way..! #LIMITLESS14 #WIZARD14

Sammy Watkins (unlike many of the other free agent wide receivers) still has age on his side.  The 28 year old wide receiver appeared in 13 games in 2021 and ended with 27 receptions, 394 yards, and 1 reception.  He did however average over 14 yards per reception.

His explosiveness is still there, if he can maintain his health his deep threat ability is exactly what Matt Lafleur is looking for.  Even if he doesn’t have the ball thrown to him, being able to extend the secondary is huge for Lafleur’s schemes.
