(BREAKING) Two Green Bay Packers Named To All-Pro Team

The Packers’ season may not have ended the way they wanted, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some bright spots.  The NFL acknowledged the success of two Green Bay Packers players who had exceptional seasons.  KR Keisean Nixon and CB Jaire Alexander both received All-Pro honors for the 2022 season.

Green Bay Packer Keisean Nixon didn’t start returning kicks until midway through the season but he did enough to earn a first-team nod on The Associated Press 2022 NFL All-Pro Team. Nixon averaged 28.8 yards per return and led the NFL with 35 returns and 1,009 return yards. He also had the longest kick return of the season in the league, a 105-yard touchdown against Minnesota in Week 17.  Nixon got 44 of the 50 first-place votes. Minnesota’s Kene Nwangwu finished second while not receiving any first-place votes. Buffalo’s Nyheim Hines, who returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in Week 18 against New England, received five first-place votes and finished third.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander was a second-team choice at corner. Jets rookie Sauce Gardner and Denver’s Patrick Surtain were the first-team corners. Alexander got 16 first-place votes and finished third in the voting. He was a second-team choice in 2020, as well.  Jaire Alexander had a career high, 5 interceptions in 2022.

Nixon and Alexander were the only two Packers to receive all-pro honors.  The AP started naming kick returners in 1976. Since then no Packers player has been named first-team in that category since Keisean Nixon. (Desmond Howard was first-team punt returner in 1996).
