It has become a yearly tradition it seems that a Packers star has been snubbed from the pro bowl. In 2019 it was Za’Darius Smith, in 2020 it was Tonyan and this year it’s De’Vondre Campbell. Obviously, every fan base feels they have players snubbed or overlooked. However, there is a chance that De’Vondre Campbell is named to an All Pro team, but has missed the pro bowl.
Stats
Campbell was signed by the Packers this off season and has become one of the best players on a top ten unit in the NFL. Campbell has started every game for the Packers and leads the team in tackles. This season Campbell has:
- 125 Tackles
- 83 Solo Tackles
- 5 Tackles for a Loss
- 6 Quarterback Hits
- 4 Passes Defended
- 2 Interceptions
- 2 Forced Fumbles
- 1 Fumble Recovery
- 2.0 Sacks
Campbell has been a model for consistency and stellar middle linebacker play. He has padded the stat sheet as well as the tape. However, he was not chosen as one of the five linebackers to represent the NFC.
So Who Made It?
Of the five linebackers selected two are inside linebackers. Bobby Wagner and Micah Parsons were the two chosen over Campbell. Their stats are as follow:
Bobby Wagner (Seattle)
- 158 Tackles
- 88 Solo Tackles
- 3 Tackles for a Loss
- 3 Quarterback Hits
- 5 Passes Defended
- 1 Interception
- 1 Forced Fumble
- 0 Fumble Recoveries
- 1.0 Sack
Micah Parsons (Dallas)
- 76 Tackles
- 57 Solo Tackles
- 17 Tackles for a Loss
- 27 Quarterback Hits
- 3 Passes Defended
- 0 Interceptions
- 3 Forced Fumbles
- 0 Fumble Recoveries
- 12.0 Sacks
Parsons numbers are very impressive due to his pass rush ability. The Cowboys allow him to live in the back field and make plays. However, he has not made the same impact in pass coverage. On the other hand, Wagner has made an even lesser impact than Campbell as a pass rusher. Actually, the only number where Wagner beats Campbell is tackles. All three men have played and started 14 games so the comparision of their numbers is valid.
