The regular season is right around the corner and the Packers are already dealing with some injuries. All of the focus has been on David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins and Christian Watson but a new one has popped up. This Packers receiver could end up missing week 1 with his status in question.
Allen Lazard Absent at Practice
Matt LaFleur said the hope is LT David Bakhtiari will take team reps in practice today.
Doesn't sound like RT Elgton Jenkins will.
As for WR Allen Lazard, who did not practice last week for reasons unknown, LaFleur said he's improving and "we'll see as the week progresses."

Lazad seems to be dealing with an undisclosed injury. He missed time at practice last week and does not look to practice again today. Head coach Matt LaFleur downplayed it in his press conference saying that he was improving and “we’ll see as the week progresses.” While LaFleur may be downplaying this, if Lazard cannot go week 1, it is huge for the Packers. Lazard is the WR1 on the team and Aaron Rodgers has given him a huge vote of confidence. If his status is in question the Packers will have to find other options at receiver.
Wide Receivers Week 1
If Allen Lazard and Christian Watson are both unable to play week 1, the Packers depth at receiver will be tested. Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb will play bigger roles. Romeo Doubs will most likely get thrust into the limelight of the regular season and even rookie standout Samori Toure could see playing time. There is also the option to bring in Juwann Winfree from the practice squad depending on how the Packers play the roster. The Packers are already thin at wide receiver and Lazard’s status being in question is not helping the confidence in the Packers offense.
More Emphasis On The Run
The one aspect of the Packers offense that looks ready to go is the run. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are ready to have big seasons. While the line has questions, overall they have studs at certain positions like Josh Myers at center. If the receiving corp is thin, expect both Jones and Dillon to get a lot of work. This is not limited to the running game either. The passing game could feature more of Jones and Dillon as well.
The hope is that this is a short term issue for Lazard. There is still a chance he plays week 1. This will be something to watch as the week goes on and as the injury report comes out on Thursday. For now, Packers receiver Allen Lazard’s status for week 1 is in question.

The term “star” is being used WAY too loosely here. Dude would be no better than a number three or four on any other team.
