The Green Bay Packers were without multiple offensive and defensive starters during practice Wednesday including star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay was also without Allen Lazard (shoulder), Rashan Gary (concussion), Elgton Jenkins (knee) and Shemar Jean-Charles (walking boot on left foot). Wednesday also marked the first preparations for Sunday’s matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
Aaron Rodgers not practicing today isn’t something Packers fans should be concerned about. Rodgers has not practiced the past two Wednesdays but was still able to start in those weeks. However, Rodgers is still dealing with a thumb injury suffered on the final play of the Packers’ loss to the New York Giants in London. Fortunately, Rodgers is expected to practice both Thursday and Friday before heading to Buffalo.
Packers haunted by injuries
Green Bay’s game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday will be the toughest test for the Packers this season. Allen Lazard’s status is completely up in the air for Sunday. Lazard injured his shoulder against the Washington Commanders last week and has been reported to be wearing a sling. Head coach Matt LeFleur is still unsure if Lazard will be able to play in Buffalo. Already having so much trouble at the wide receiver position, the Packers desperately need to get Lazard back for a crucial Week 8 game.
On the defensive side of the ball, Green Bay might be without linebacker Rashan Gary. Gary suffered a concussion against the Commanders, the same team that took out Lazard. His status is uncertain for the game against the Bills. Hopefully the Packers will have better news on these injuries moving forward later this week. One thing is for sure, in order for Green Bay to have a shot on Sunday they need to get some of their key offensive and defensive weapons back.
