The Packers have finally seemed to sign their replacement for Devin Funchess. The Packers brought Malik Turner in for a visit a few days ago. However, it has just been announced that they have officially signed the free agent wide out.
What to Know
Turner is 24 years old and recorded 3 starts last season. The young wide out is plenty talented, but struggled to find the field last year playing behind D.K Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. The signing doesn’t seem like one that will have a crazy impact, but could create some buzz at camp. Last season Turner had 245 yards of only 15 catches. The young talent excels after the catch and has a great set of hands.
Camp
When Devin Funchess opted out it created a chance for young guys to compete for playing time or even a roster spot. Specifically guys like Reggie Begalton. However, the Packers have now thrown another young guy into the mix. All this means is that now there is another guy on the team who will be competing for one of six or seven wide out spots on the 53 man roster. Turner also provides value as a scat player with his ability to make plays with the ball in his hand.
