The New York Giants have signed a former Green Bay Packers defensive player. As both teams ramp up for a possible playoff berth, the Giants are making some minor changes. That includes adding some depth to their defensive line. Former Packers’ DL Jack Heflin has reportedly signed with the New York Giants.
Jack Heflin Signed By The New York Giants
The Giants signed former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Jack Heflin to the team’s practice squad. Heflin played in four games and was on the field for 30 total snaps (17 defense) for the Packers in 2021. He returned on the practice squad for the 2022 season but was released this week. The Packers never elevated him for a game this year despite issues stopping the run.
The New York Giants currently sit at 7-5-1 and are vying for one of the final playoff spots. They will play the Washington Commanders this weekend who are also 7-5-1. This is a game Green Bay just can’t afford a tie. The last time the Commanders and Giants met (in week 13) it ended in a 20-20 tie. If Green Bay is going to catch one of these teams, one team needs to lose in NFL Week 15. Which one should Packers fans want to lose? I would say the New York Giants as their remaining schedule is a tad tougher than the Commanders’. New York’s final three opponents after they face the Commanders are the Vikings (10-3), Colts (4-8-1), and the Eagles (12-1). The Commanders’ final three games after they play the Giants are the 49ers (9-4), Browns (5-8), and Cowboys (10-3). Either way, both teams have a tough finish to the season. As a result, Green Bay needs one of these teams to lose out the rest of the way. Hopefully, that starts this week.
