Matt LaFleur offers an update on a star offensive player
The Green Bay Packers will head into their Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams with a slight chance at the playoffs. Their best odds are to win out and hope for losses from NFC wild card teams. The Packers need all hands on deck as they try and turn around their 5-8 season. Head coach Matt LaFleur gave an update on an offensive star’s availability for Monday night’s game.
According to Matt Schneidman with The Athletic, LaFleur said he doesn’t see offensive tackle David Bakhtiari playing against the Rams Monday. Schneidman assumes the Packers will use rookie Zach Tom to fill in for Bakhtiari against the Rams.
Matt LaFleur says it’s probably a long shot David Bakhtiari (appendix) plays Monday night against the Rams. Rookie Zach Tom on Aaron Rodgers’ blind side again, it seems.

Bakhtiari missed their Week 13 victory over the Bears after an appendectomy surgery. The All-Pro lineman had a chance to recover during the bye but doesn’t seem ready for action yet this week. The Packers hinted early this week at potential issues with the starting lineup on the offensive line. They signed two offensive linemen to the practice squad and activated rookie Caleb Jones.
It’ll be interesting to see if Tom gets all of the snaps. The Packers could rotate Jones in to get some playing time. The Packers will want to get a chance to evaluate their young talent before they potentially sign or keep veteran players on the unit.
