Yesterday, the Green Bay Packers made the decision to waive their 2021 third round draft pick, Amari Rodgers. As it turns out, Rodgers was not out of work long. DJ Bien-Aime, who covers the Houston Texans for ESPN, reported on Twitter that the Texans had signed Rodgers.

While Rodgers failed to produce on the field as a kick and punt returner, the fact that he was signed less than 24 hours after being waived by the Packers is a testament to the potential that NFL teams see in him.
How Will Amari Rodgers Fit on the Houston Texans?
The Houston Texans are currently 1-7-1, the worst record in the NFL. They currently have a wide receiver group consisting of Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins, Chris Moore, Phillip Dorsett, and Tyron Johnson. Cooks leads the team with 36 receptions for 391 yards and a touchdown. Collins is the only other wide receiver with over 300 receiving yards on the season and has caught one touchdown as well.
In other words, Rodgers will finally have the opportunity to be used primarily as a wide receiver. With no clear number one wide receiver, the Texans are desperate for any kind of production they can get from the position.
With the Packers, Rodgers was always behind Randall Cobb and Davante Adams for snaps from the slot. Additionally, his struggles as a returner did not instill faith that he could produce on the field.
Hopefully he gets the opportunity to focus on being a wide receiver with the Texans.
