Many did not anticipate seeing the Green Bay Packers or Las Vegas Raiders underperforming this year they way they have. Green Bay currently sits at 7-8 and are fighting for their playoff lives. The Las Vegas Raiders are 6-9 and well out of the playoff race in the AFC. Back in March the Packers and Raiders executed a block buster trade that sent star wide receiver Davante Adams out west to play with his college teammate in Derek Carr. 15 weeks into the season, Derek Carr has been benched.
Derek Carr Is Being Benched In Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Raiders are benching quarterback Derek Carr in favor of Jarrett Stidham for the final two games of the season, coach Josh McDaniels announced Wednesday. Below is the official report:

The move comes after Carr has thrown nine interceptions in the Raiders’ past five games. During that same span he completed just 57% of his passes. The Raiders won three of those games, however, and at 6-9 are still mathematically alive for a playoff spot. McDaniels had said Monday that the Raiders needed to “throw the ball better” to be successful.
The Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams for a first and second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The team also lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling to free agency. Green Bay also had their own free agents that they needed to sign or else lose key pieces of their stout defense. Now that the NFL Draft is complete, we can now see a clear picture of everything that the Packers got in return for Davante Adams.
When the Green Bay Packers placed the franchise tag on Davante Adams, it promised to pay Adams $20.1 million for the 2022 season. However, Adams wanted to be the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL, and Green Bay had offered him a deal that would have paid him north of $30 million per season. Davante Adams, though, wanted to play closer to home and was dealt to the Raiders for the aforementioned draft picks. With the money saved by not paying Adams, the Packers were able to sign some of their own free agents and pursue a veteran wide receiver.
